Sydney Trains Overtime Cap

Dear Members

Congratulations! You have been a part of making history! Together we have won backpay for overtime worked by our members at Sydney Trains, Graded RC6C and above.

We want to thank you for your commitment and support over the past year as we worked together to recover your back pay for overtime incorrectly capped under the Sydney Trains Enterprise Agreement.

With your support the Combined Rail Unions - PA, the ASU, AMWU, and RTBU - took this important case to the Federal Court on behalf of our members. After months of meetings and negotiations, we now have a settlement.

Employees across the railway will now be paid their correct overtime back to 12 September 2019.

In addition to recovering overtime, Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink will no longer apply the overtime cap from 28 March 2024.

We will now work with Sydney Trains, NSW TrainLink and TfNSW as they process these payments to make sure that your rights are protected.

This is an historic win for union members! It follows on other great wins for our members like the 68K Agreement, smashing the wages policy during Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink bargaining, and securing the highest pay increases in decades for salaried employees at TfNSW.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the delegates from each of the unions for their unwavering and steadfast commitment to this campaign.

If you’re entitled to backpay for this period of time, you will receive correspondence from Trains in the coming weeks advising you of this and the timelines for payment.

If you want more information about this issue, contact your Sydney Trains Organiser, Adrian Catt on [email protected]

With EA and Award negotiations commencing very soon, there has never been a better time to join PA. Tell your colleagues about this historic win and ask them to join PA.
