Every South Australian deserves the best healthcare, no matter where they live – but that’s in jeopardy.
In 2019, the Marshall Liberal Government cut the budget to SA Pathology, telling workers it would be privatised if they couldn’t meet significant budget cuts.
SA Pathology not only met the savings target – it bet it.
Despite meeting its target and leading the national in testing for COVID-19, Premier Steven Marshall refuses to rule out privatising SA Pathology or cutting the budget further.
How will you be affected?
SA Pathology is the only pathology service testing for COVID-19 in SA.
If it were privatised, tests would be sent interstate leading to a delay in diagnosis and treatment.
When essential services are privatised, patients & communities who lose out. In SA, electricity privatisation cost us billions and we’re still paying with prices more than doubling over the past decade, while service deteriorated. This can’t happen with our health services – South Australians deserve better than that.
Tell the Premier to Stop the Health Cell-Off:
I support Professionals Australia’s campaign to Stop the Health Cell-Off.
I believe SA Pathology is an essential service.
I value the work of scientists and technical officers at SA Pathology and commend their critical public health work in fighting the Coronavirus.
SA Pathology must remain in public hands.
You must stop any further job cuts so that SA Pathology can remain a world leading research and diagnostic service.
I call on you to commit that:
- SA Pathology will not be privatised
- There will be no more job cuts in SA Pathology
