Professionals Australia would like to congratulate Domenico Lombardo for receiving the Distinguished Service Award. He has been an active member since joining in 1995 and spent 9 years on defence’s peak industrial relations committee.

At Domenico’s retirement function Dale Beasley, Director of the ACT Branch and Australian Government Group for Professionals Australia, had the pleasure to say a few words.

“We refer to delegates as the superheroes of our workplaces. I’ve seen Dom channel both superman and Clark Kent all at the same time. He’s a man who can sit across the table from Departmental Secretaries and silence them with a perfectly timed injection of logic.”

“The deck has been stacked against union members for most of the last decade. I’ll be honest, the challenges of a hostile government, degrading IR laws and an industrial umpire now far more likely to side with the employer, has seen a significant number of union members, delegates and even officials call time on their tenure as champions for change. Dom’s stuck it out to his last day.”

Every year we recognise the great work of our delegates and members. Domenico’s contribution has made fundamental improvements to the working lives of his colleagues.
