Members are working to achieve better recognition, respect and reward for medical science professionals.
Medical scientists are facing numerous challenges. Scientific Researchers open doors to treatment for previously untreatable conditions, while Pathology Scientists and Clinical Scientists diagnose and prescribe appropriate care for patients. However, our work is done out of the spotlight, so we rarely receive the recognition we deserve. Lack of recognition means Medical Scientists often leave the profession. Retention is difficult; skills are lost, and the quality of healthcare decreases. The issues facing our profession persist because we are struggling to be heard.
We know that things will only improve when governments understand the vital contribution medical scientists make to patient care and improving community health outcomes. We are prepared to work hard to achieve a better future for science – but we can’t do it without you.
