Science and Technology Australia
Professionals Australia is affiliated with Science and Technology Australia.
Science and Technology Australia (STA) represents 68,000 scientists and technologists, and promotes their views on a wide range of policy issues to government, industry and the community.
STA represents a range of professional interests within science across Australia with members including organisations such as the Australian Neuroscience Society, Australian Society for Biophysics, the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, the Australian Council of Deans of Science and the Women in Science Enquiry Network.
STA was formed in late 1985 as a way of effectively contributing to discussions at the highest levels of policy-making in Australia and communicates with the most senior levels of government.
The organisation has three formal objectives:
to encourage scientific dialogue between industry, government, and the science and technology community;
to promote public understanding of science; and
to foster close relations between member societies.
STA also runs the annual Science meets Parliament event.
Australian Research Alliance
The Research Alliance was formed in July 2013 and is a broadbased grouping of scientific, research, university, public and private sector researchers and peak bodies in science, higher education, social sciences and humanities who came together to call for a strategic national research policy. The Alliance has developed a set of fundamental principles with the aim of securing a smarter more productive and resilient future for Australian Science. Read more about the principles ….
Member organisations include the Cooperative Research Centres Association, the Australian Academy of Science, Universities Australia, Group of Eight Australia, the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes, Science and Technology Australia, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, Research Australia, the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, Regional Universities Network, the Australian Society for Medical Research and Professionals Australia (formerly Professionals Australia).
