Professional Scientists Australia’s response to the NHMRC consultation paper
The focus of Professional Scientists Australia’s submission to this consultation is on:
- addressing the key issues of embedded gender bias in the assessment of track record and the operation of the Relative to Opportunity and Career Disruption policies;
- raising the need for guidelines on bias including and beyond gender; and
- highlighting the need for researchers in management and leadership roles to be able to demonstrate skills beyond the technical.
We focus on the potential impact of peer review processes for the new grant program with particular emphasis on the independent Medical Research Institute (MRI) sector.
