RPEng receives 100 applications in three months

Anna November 19, 2014 in Engineers, Latest News 0

Three months, 100 applications; RPEng is going strong and growing stronger.

If you wish to be an Assessor for RPEng, please refer to the end of this article.

In the first three months of operation, Registered Professional Engineers of Professionals Australia (RPEng) received more than 100 applications.

In that time the website has received more than 20,000 views and the interactive online application form was accessed by more than 4,000 members.

The Registrar team, which handles incoming emails and phone calls, has been inundated with queries

since the scheme commenced, and according to the RPEng Registrar, Linda Toohey, the feedback to-date has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The most common statement I hear from applicants, is how relieved they are to have a sensible, practical and fairly priced alternative to become registered,” said Linda.

“We’re finding a lot of people have been turned off becoming registered previously due to the cost and time-consuming processes of other schemes available.

“Reaching the 100 applications milestone reinforces what we already knew – that we’re doing something which the profession wants and needs, and knowing this is rewarding,” said Linda.

According to Professionals Australia CEO, Chris Walton, the popularity of the scheme has continuously exceeded the original expectations.

“When we launched RPEng, we knew it would be popular, but we never anticipated such high interest in such a short timeframe,” said Mr Walton.

“We established Registered Professional Engineer of Professionals Australia (RPEng) to be the practical mark of quality in engineering registration and reaching 100 applications confirms we have achieved this,” said Mr Walton.

Professionals Australia has for a long time agreed that high standards of conduct and practice are vital to keeping our communities safe and engineering as a profession, strong.

The standard of professionalism among engineers must be high to ensure competent practice, ethical conduct, maximum economic benefit and most importantly the safety of the community.

We all know that engineering failure can have catastrophic consequences.

To uphold the integrity of the profession, and maintain an exceptional standard of practice and professionalism, a mechanism must be in place to assess competency – Registered Professional Engineer of Professionals Australia (RPEng) is that mechanism.

Professionals Australia is proud to have reached 100 applications, and is looking forward to the next 100. By achieving the title of Registered Professional Engineer of Professionals Australia (RPEng), you are making a public statement to your employer, potential employers and the community about your competency to practice as a Professional Engineer.

Call for Assessors
