Nominations will shortly be called for the biennial election of the LGEA Committee of Management for the 2018 – 2020 term of office. The election will be conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission.
An election notice will be posted to the home address of all Qualified and Provisional members of the LGEA in the coming days by the Commission. This notice will advise you of the details for the election, including how you can nominate for a position on the Committee which is the governing body of the LGEA.
Nominations will be called for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, seven Committee Members and a Women’s Committee Member. Nominees must be financial members and their nomination must be supported by two financial members who are eligible to vote in the election. Nominations will open on Thursday 19 October and must be received by the Returning Officer by 12.00 noon on Monday 6 November 2017.
Nominees are encouraged to submit a candidate profile for inclusion with voting material. If a ballot is necessary, voting material will be posted on 20 November 2017 with the ballot closing at 12 noon Friday 8 December.
The Committee is the peak decision-making body of the LGEA and is responsible for setting the strategic goals as well as monitoring the performance of the Association. It usually meets quarterly and any eligible member who is interested in getting involved in the running of the Association and helping to set the direction and policies of the organisation is encouraged to nominate for a position at the upcoming election.
