Who is the CMIEG?

  • Who is the CMIEG?

The CMIEG is the Coal Mining Industry Employer Group. It is made up of 13 of the most profitable mining companies. The employer front group was formed so that these companies could use their collective power and money to go after your crucial entitlements.

These companies rake in billions of dollars each year. And yet they want to rip-off the hard-working dedicated Staff and Deputies whose work earns them that wealth. And to top it off, most of these extraordinarily profitable companies did not pay a single cent of tax last year.

See if your employer is on the list.

The CMIEG includes:

  • Rio Tinto
  • BHPBiliton
  • Cenntenial Coal
  • Peabody Energy
  • Anglo Coal
  • Glencore
  • Ensham Resources
  • Whitehaven Coal
  • South32
  • Fitzroy Australia Resources
  • Yancoal Australia
  •  Wesfarmers Resources
  •  Jellinbah Resources

Under the umbrella of the CMIEG these companies have worked together to successfully cut redundancy pay. They ran a case at the Fair Work Commission and succeeded in capping redundancy at 15 years of service. This is a brutal slap in the face to the very Staff and Deputies who have been most loyal to a company. And now the CMIEG is coming for your compo pay. They are seeking to slash compo pay by 26 weeks. It seems like the worse you are hurt the less they care.

These companies have realised the value of working together to exert their collective strength. It’s time for Staff and Deputies and their union to do the same. To stand up to these mining giants we need to do it together. We must work together to save your entitlements. Because the bosses are working together to slash them.

Join your Staff union. If we organise we can take them on and see important conditions locked in Agreements and contractors for every single Staff and Deputy.
