UNION WIN for Members at Mt. Thorley Warkworth Mine! Months of campaigning paid off for members this week as Yancoal agreed to back-pay and maintain Superannuation bonuses of $1440 per year.
This is a great win for members at Mt. Thorley Warkworth in the NSW Hunter, who in September 2018 were told by their company, Yancoal, that they would no longer receive the Super bonuses listed in their employment contracts. The mine was formerly owned by Rio Tinto who had maintained the bonus Super for over a decade in Staff contracts.
Members who raised the issue told their Union that by the end of their careers, $1440 per year into their Super would make a big difference for their and their family’s quality of life. Congratulations to those members who were involved in the campaign, and welcome to all of our new members at Mt. Thorley who joined to be a part of a strong voice for fairness.
We are the Union run by Coal Mine Staff in NSW and QLD – we stick together to maintain and improve our working conditions across the industry.
