What is happening to Appin Deputies could happen to anyone. Free overtime affects everyone – and it looks like South 32 are trying to push it through the industry. Either agree to it or be locked out. How is it OK to lockout Deputies for two weeks and deny them pay in retaliation for standing up for their rights? This is the thin edge of the wedge.
Your Collieries Staff Committee of Management met on Saturday and have resolved that all members be asked to help the Appin Deputies with a $50 donation.
Please help these members put food on the table, petrol in their cars etc. With the money you donate we will buy and distribute supermarket vouchers.
We will report back to you on how your donation has been spent.
Association Reps have also been asked to collect donations on their shifts.
Please mark your donation with “Your full name – Appin Deputies”

Please note this is not tax deductible.
We will continue to try and find a resolution, but it makes it difficult when Appin seems to reject every reasonable alternative we put on the bargaining table.
Thanks for helping your colleagues.
