With the accelerating shortage of skills, increasing diversity of IT specialisations and the demand for innovation through technology-led solutions, growing the skills of IT Professionals through training and development is one of the keys to maintaining and improving organisational performance. The ITPA is committed to supporting members learn new skills or update or certify their existing skills via this scholarship which provides the recipient with a cash incentive of $500 towards relevant training.
Michael Glew has been selected as the winner of this year’s IT Upskill scholarship valued at $500. Michael is an ACT-based Senior Systems Tester who joined APESMA in 2006 and has been working on the ATO portion of the Standard Business Reporting project (www.sbr.gov.au). He will undertake training to gain International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification.
On how he expected to benefit from undertaking the training, Michael said:
Although certification isn’t a guarantee that a candidate is qualified, some clients insist on certification, so this will open doors to assignments that would otherwise be out of reach and increase my marketability.
Congratulations Michael on being the recipient of the inaugural IT Upskill scholarship.
