The dust has settled and we’ve heard the Opposition’s reply to the Federal Budget.
On Thursday morning, Tanya Plisbersek, Deputy Leader of the Opposition began Labor’s reply with the 2019 Women’s Budget statement. The key message, “We’ll make our budgets work for women.”
Speaking of the 2019-20 Federal Budget, the statement said:
“The Budget contains no mentions of affordable housing – even though women currently make up 66 per cent of turn=aways from homelessness services and older single women are one of the fastest growing groups falling into homelessness. There is not a single policy to address the gender pay gap and no plan for wages.”
Later that day, Bill Shorten, Opposition Leader delivered this reply speech where he addressed: infrastructure, wages, education, Medicare, tax cuts, negative gearing and climate change.
