Rachel Scott is a NSW-based professional with an Engineering degree from the University of Sydney who works as a Reliability Engineer in Defence. Rachel intends to put the $500 towards undertaking a Leadership Skills for Professional Women course later this year.
On how she expects the CPD to enhance her career, Rachel said: “The gender imbalance in the field of engineering often gives rise to challenging environments and team dynamics which require unique leadership strategies to produce the desired outcomes. My selected course will expose me to leadership and management strategies for varied professional environments, communication and engagement practices, as well as approaches to change and innovation. This course will be an enabler of improved confidence and professional flexibility, and will provide me with the tools to get the best from my team. The skills gained will support me in future transitions between roles, teams and organisations, allowing me to progress my career without being limited by the leadership barriers sometimes encountered as a female in a male-dominated industry. Additionally, the networking opportunities with other female attendees will ensure I am provided with enduring professional support.”
