The ICT Professionals Employment and Remuneration Report serves as a tool that employees and employers can utilise to track and predict industry trends in wages, conditions and employment. Preliminary findings from the 2018 Report shows:
Offshoring is a serious issue in the ICT landscape at present, with some organisations seeking to minimise short-term costs by outsourcing functions overseas. Survey respondents were asked about the skills they thought were most likely to be offshored over the next three years. Respondents identified Oracle as the skill most at risk from offshoring over the next three years followed by Java/J2EE, network design and Python. The trend of outsourcing raises concerns that some Australian businesses may not have the skilled workforce on hand locally to drive innovative business practices and ultimately this may negatively affect workforce development in the profession.
