The first protected actions have been notified  to Defence following a joint hookup of Professionals Australia and AMWU representatives last week.

These will be the first actions enabling members to take action in support of the science and engineering union claims in enterprise negotiations and will commence on 1 May 2015.

Potential members can make these actions stronger by coming on board behind these and other actions. New members made the ballot process stronger, new members now have the capacity to make action stronger and more effective.

An FAQ in relation to your rights and responsibilities in relation to protected action can be accessed here.

This web-link will be updated with a list of actions that have been notified, providing information on when such actions can be taken and in what locations. This will also clarify if actions are current or have ended as many actions may be only for a specified period of time.

The value of any potential action notified will be in both the number of colleagues in your workplace that are members and will support it and its linkage to the importance of science and engineering work across Defence.
