Key shipbuilding Unions have just signed a landmark Principles Agreement with BAE Systems Australia ahead of the company’s bid for the Future Frigate SEA 5000 project.
The agreement signals the intent of Unions and BAE to work together if BAE is successful in the imminent Government contract announcement, to ensure the Future Frigate SEA 5000 project will not only produce the best possible product for the Australian Navy, but will also revitalize manufacturing, build Australia’s sovereign shipbuilding capability and secure highly skilled jobs for the future.
The $35 billion contract will revitalise Australian manufacturing, build Australia’s sovereign shipbuilding capacity and invest in highly skilled jobs for the future.
This agreement is akin to one signed weeks ago with Fincantieri, another of the three final bidders for the project.
This is a once in a generation opportunity for the Australian manufacturing industry, and a huge win for our Union.
