Members authorise delegates to commit to industrial action.
Today, 21 September, members authorised delegates to commit to and get staff to notify industrial action without the need of further authority from members.
Members saw that in the environment we are in, it is essential that delegates can arrange industrial action with out having to return and get member endorsement. Members of course can review the actions each Tuesday.
PA prepares to present Deed and CTC related claims in bargaining
PA is presenting a number of our claims tomorrow at Bargaining, specifically:
- Our claim for protection of staffing levels in the CTC
- Our claim for any staff who accesses priority assessment through the deed to remain eligible for priority assessment and deed services until such time as they are made redundant, or accept a permanent role.
Sydney Trains cancels bargaining meeting
Sydney Trains today cancelled the bargaining meeting scheduled for Wednesday 22 September.
This was after Sydney Trains again tried to place limits on which delegates could attend bargaining. Sydney Trains has attempted to stop NSW trains delegates from attending and only wanted Engineering and Maintenance delegates to attend tomorrow. When the CRU did not accept this, Sydney Trains cancelled the meeting.
Sydney Trains indicated that this was because staff were required due to the industrial action being taken. Given that there is only an overtime and some other minor bans, it didn’t really seem reasonable to us.
We are disappointed that Sydney Trains has take this approach and cancelled the meeting that was talking about the deed and job security. I hope that the meeting can re-scheduled. You can view the CRU comms here.
Industrial action working
What this shows is that our industrial action is working, our many activities along with the ASU and RTBU activities are really starting to have an impact on Sydney Trains. Sydney Trains are responding poorly, but it is clear they are rattled by our action.
The CRU will write to Sydney trains and will consider further action.
